Ranking the Top 7 Protective iPhone Duo Cases
The iPhone Duo is the first iPhone that bends in the middle, and that changes how you protect it. There are two halves to cover, a hinge that has to move freely, a 5.4-inch cover screen on the outside, and a camera bar that sits proud of the back.
Damage is also more common than most people think. Allstate Protection Plans found that 78 million Americans damaged a smartphone in a single year, with the average repair or replacement costing $302. On a foldable, that figure looks small: according to 9to5Mac, an inner display repair on the iPhone Duo costs $999 without AppleCare+, while the outer display runs $379.
So a good case is less of an accessory here and more of a basic requirement. We ranked seven protective iPhone Duo cases on how well they cover the phone and how easy they are to live with every day.

How We Ranked These Cases
We looked at five things: coverage of the corners, edges and camera bar; whether the case guards the hinge; materials and grip; MagSafe support; and how much bulk it adds to a phone that already weighs 254 g and measures 11.3 mm folded.
We also asked a simple question that most protection rankings skip: will you actually keep this case on? A case only protects the phone while it is on it, and people take off cases they find ugly or clumsy. That is why the list mixes protection-first designs with a case people will happily use every day.
Launch stock moves fast, and a few of these cases were on preorder or sold out when we checked. We noted where it matters and left out prices because they change week to week.
1. BURGA Elite: Best for Designer Prints and Outfit Matching

Most foldable cases built for protection come in black, grey or clear. BURGA takes the opposite route. This design brand offers its full catalog of more than 500 original prints for the iPhone Duo, all created by its in-house design team, so you can pick marble, florals, monograms, bold graphics or quiet neutrals that suit what you wear, the way you would choose a bag or a pair of shoes.
The protection is built into that design. BURGA iPhone Duo cases come in BURGA Elite, molded as two precision parts, one for each half of the phone, so the Duo still opens fully and closes flat. Raised edges around the camera bar keep the lenses off the table, and textured sides add grip to the Duo’s polished titanium frame. BURGA Elite stays slim, which matters on a phone that is already thick when folded.
These cases are MagSafe and Qi2 compatible, so chargers and wallets snap on without removing the case. Every case comes with a 12-month warranty and 30-day returns. BURGA also carries its designs across AirPods cases, magnetic power banks and phone charms, so the Duo can be the center of a matching set that goes with your outfit.
What we like
- More than 500 original designs, all made in-house
- Slim two-part BURGA Elite build with raised edges around the camera bar
- MagSafe and Qi2 compatible, with matching BURGA accessories
Where it falls short
- Not the pick for buyers who want a hinge cover or port covers
2. OtterBox Defender Series Pro XT: Best for Full Coverage

If you want as much of the phone covered as possible, start here. The Defender Series Pro XT adds a hinge guard that moves with the phone and lies flat when the Duo is open, plus port covers that keep dust and grit out. A polycarbonate layer and a thermoplastic elastomer layer work together, and the textured edges give you a firm hold on a large, heavy phone.
Built-in magnets keep wireless charging working. The trade-off is bulk: it is one of the chunkier cases here, and it only comes in black. It was sold out on OtterBox’s site when we checked, so sign up for a restock alert if you want one.
What we like
- Hinge guard and port covers
- Grippy textured edges
Where it falls short
- Adds noticeable weight and thickness
- Black only, and stock is tight at launch
3. ESR Cyber Tough Magnetic Case with Flex Stand: Best Protective Case With a Stand

ESR’s Cyber Tough pairs a hard polycarbonate outer layer with a shock-absorbing TPE layer, then adds reinforced hinge coverage, cushioned Air Guard corners and zinc-alloy protection around the cameras. Raised edges help keep both screens off flat surfaces.
The Flex Stand is the extra. It rotates and folds so you can prop the Duo up open or closed for video calls and streaming, and it closes over the camera lenses when you put it away. ESR rates the magnetic hold at 1,500 g for MagSafe accessories, and the case comes in Black, Night Sky, Deep Burgundy, and Misty Blue.
What we like
- Hinge coverage and a built-in stand in one case
- More color choice than most tough cases
Where it falls short
- The stand adds a visible bump on the back
- Bulkier than slim two-part cases
4. Spigen Tough Armor Pro MagFit: Best for Dedicated Hinge Protection

Spigen’s Tough Armor Pro is built around the hinge, with a flexible protector that wraps the fold while still letting the phone open smoothly. Raised edges around the screen and camera, plus Air Cushion corners, handle the everyday knocks.
An aligned N52 magnet array keeps MagSafe chargers and mounts in place. It comes in Black and Metal Slate. Like several launch cases, it was sold out on Spigen’s site at the time of writing.
What we like
- Full hinge coverage
- Strong magnets for chargers and mounts
Where it falls short
- Plain, function-first look
- Limited stock during launch weeks
5. Pelican Ranger: Best Clear Protective Case

Pelican, sold through Case-Mate, made the Ranger for people who want protection without hiding the phone’s color. It is a slim, clear dual-layer case with a reinforced back, cushioned corners and impact-absorbing ridges, and it folds with the phone instead of fighting it.
A 1.6 mm raised bezel protects the cameras, textured sides improve grip, and an anti-scratch coating helps keep it clear. Built-in magnets support MagSafe charging and accessories, and Pelican backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.
What we like
- Shows off the Duo’s star white or night sky finish
- Limited lifetime warranty
Where it falls short
- No dedicated hinge guard, unlike the Pelican Protector
- Clear only, so little room for personal style
6. Torras Q3 Spin: Best for Hands-Free Viewing

The Duo’s inner display is the biggest screen ever put on an iPhone, and the Torras Q3 Spin is designed to make the most of it. An aluminum ring on the back rotates 360 degrees and serves as both a grip and a kickstand, in portrait or landscape orientation.
Protection comes from reinforced corners, raised camera edges, and a hinge guard that moves with the fold. N52 magnets keep MagSafe accessories attached, and Torras includes a tempered glass screen protector for the cover display in the box. Colors are Deep Blue, Black, and Purple.
What we like
- Rotating ring works as a grip and a stand
- Screen protector included
Where it falls short
- Heavier than slim cases
- The ring dominates the look of the back
7. UAG Mouve: Best Lightweight Protective Case

UAG is known for tough cases, and the Mouve is its lighter take for the Duo. It is a translucent two-piece case with a polycarbonate back, a TPU frame, and a soft-touch finish, with cushioned corners and a raised lip around the camera and screen.
A built-in magnet module supports MagSafe chargers and accessories. It comes in Ash only and is on preorder, with shipping set for November 7. If you want a stand, the Mouve XTE adds a rotating metal kickstand.
What we like
- Light, with a soft-touch grip
- Cushioned corners and raised edges
Where it falls short
- No dedicated hinge cover
- Preorder only at the time of writing
What to Look For in a Protective iPhone Duo Case
- Hinge coverage: Cases from OtterBox, ESR, Spigen and Torras add a guard over the fold. Slim cases like BURGA Elite, Pelican Ranger and UAG Mouve leave it open, which keeps the phone thinner and lets it fold freely.
- Raised edges: Look for a lip around the camera bar and the cover screen. It is the simplest form of protection a case can provide, and it saves many scratched lenses.
- Grip: The Duo has a polished titanium frame and weighs 254 g. Textured sides or a ring grip make drops less likely in the first place.
- MagSafe and Qi2: The Duo charges wirelessly at up to 25W. Check that the case has built-in magnets so chargers, wallets, and mounts stay put.
- A plan for loss, too: No case helps if the phone goes missing. Set up Find My before you need it, and learn how to locate a lost iPhone so you are not figuring it out in a panic.
Our Verdict
If you want protection you will happily keep on every day, BURGA Elite is our top pick, with more than 500 original designer prints, a slim two-part build and matching accessories for your outfit. Choose OtterBox for the fullest coverage, ESR if you want a tough case with a stand, Spigen for dedicated hinge protection, Pelican for a clear case, Torras for hands-free viewing, and UAG if lightweight matters most.
