Why can Fildena lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure?

Fildena, which contains Sildenafil Citrate as its active ingredient, is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. However, one of the mechanisms through which it operates can lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure in some individuals. Here’s how this can happen: Vasodilation: Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. By inhibiting PDE5, it increases levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels). This effect can lower blood pressure, particularly in individuals who may already have low blood pressure or are taking other medications that affect blood pressure. Interaction with Nitrates: Fildena should never be taken with nitrates (medications often prescribed for chest pain or angina), as the combination can lead to a significant drop in blood pressure. Nitrates also cause vasodilation, and when combined with Sildenafil, the effects can be additive and result in dangerously low blood pressure. Underlying Health Conditions: Individuals with certain health conditions (such as severe cardiovascular disease) may be at a higher risk for experiencing blood pressure drops when taking Fildena. These patients may already have compromised blood pressure regulation. Dehydration or Alcohol Use: Dehydration or excessive alcohol intake can also lead to low blood pressure. If a person takes Fildena under these conditions, the risk of hypotension may increase. Individual Variability: Each person’s response to medication can vary. Factors such as age, weight, other medications, and overall health can influence how Fildena affects blood pressure.
