How do you report inaccurate IP Geolocation data?

Iplocation.net works with the above IP-to-location data providers and displays their geolocation results through their APIs. Because the underlying location records are maintained by those providers, we do not directly edit or correct IP geolocation data ourselves.

If an IP address is showing the wrong location, the best path is to contact the geolocation provider that supplied the inaccurate result. We display "Contact provider" link below the provider's name in the above result.

If you maintain geofeed information for your network, you can submit the feed file through our Geofeed page. Providing clear, current geofeed data can help improve location accuracy as providers process and incorporate those updates.

IP-Based Geolocation Accuracy

The geolocation lookup tool on this page estimates where an IP address may be located. Results come from IP-based geolocation providers, and accuracy varies depending on how quickly each provider updates its database when networks change.

Country-level geolocation is usually highly accurate, while state, region, and city-level accuracy can vary significantly. Large ISPs, mobile carriers, VPNs, proxies, and hosting networks may route traffic through central gateways, which can cause a lookup to show a nearby region rather than the user’s exact city.

FAQ

IP Lookup FAQs

01 What can an IP lookup tell me?

An IP lookup can show approximate location, ISP, organization, ASN, hostname, network type, and privacy signals such as VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting, or fraud-score indicators.

02 Why do IP lookup providers show different locations?

Providers update their databases from different routing, registry, ISP, geofeed, and correction sources. Differences are common when an IP block has moved, is routed through a gateway, or belongs to a VPN, proxy, mobile carrier, or cloud provider.

03 Is an IP lookup the same as GPS location?

No. IP geolocation is approximate and usually identifies a country, region, city, ISP, or network gateway. Exact device location requires permission-based browser geolocation, GPS, Wi-Fi, or mobile location signals.

04 Why are lookup result pages marked noindex?

Individual query-result URLs can create many near-duplicate pages. IPLocation.net keeps those result URLs usable for visitors while pointing search engines to the canonical IP Lookup tool page.
